Four-color woodcut of the iconic New York Deli coffee cup.
Nothing is as nostalgically New York like the classic greek deli cup. Harder to find now, the cup was omnipresent in all the takeout counters, convenience stores and diners throughout the late 20th century and into the 21st. This woodcut was done in the Japanese style (Moku Hanga), where the blocks are wet, and printed by hand using water-based inks. The result is a very translucent and painterly effect. Each print came out entirely different. I made an limited edition of 25 and a number of artist proofs and sold all of them! The original print is 8" x 6" and printed on Kozo (mulberry) paper.
